Best Course Deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2022
Many course providers are running their biggest sales of the year for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so now's a good time to commit to learning new data science skills for 2023. Below, I've rounded up the best offers and some top data science course picks for each platform.
Dataquest
- The deal: \$700 off Lifetime and \$294 off Annual subscriptions
- Dates active: November 22–28, 2022
- Best courses
Dataquest is an effective learning platform for data science beginners, and it consistently ranks in the top five of all courses on my best data science course page. Their platform is like an interactive textbook, where you'll read a lesson and solve problems using Python right in your browser. For more details about their platform, see my review of Dataquest.
Coursera
- The deal: $100 off Coursera Plus Annual
- Dates active: November 21–28, 2022
- Best courses
Getting the Coursera Plus deal is the best value for the money since Plus lets you earn certificates from tons of Specializations on Coursera. Before Plus, you paid for Specializations you weren't sure you'd stick with—now you can join multiple Specializations at once and figure out which one is worth your time. Check out my article for getting an entire data science education on Coursera Plus for a better guide.
DataCamp
- The deal: 65% off Premium subscription
- Dates active: November 22–28, 2022
- Best courses
DataCamp is a data science platform like Dataquest, but teaches through video instead of text. For a better comparison, see Dataquest vs DataCamp. Overall, DataCamp is a good value for the amount of content since there's a short video course on tons of foundational data science skills.
Udemy
- The deal: Up to 85% off courses
- Dates active: November 25–28, 2022
- Best courses
- Python for Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp
- Become a Linear Algebra Master
- Become a Statistics and Probability Master
- Optimization with Python: Solve Operations Research Problems Udemy's deal effectively makes most courses on the platform only $9.99, the lowest price I've ever seen them go. Udemy courses are the most practical for picking up new programming languages, technologies, and tools, whereas Coursera and edX courses are better for learning theory. Udemy seems to have the most courses of any platform, so it's challenging to list all of their best options, but above are some of the best options I've experienced.
edX
- The deal: Use code CYBER2022 to save 20%
- Dates active: November 21–28, 2022
- Best courses
If you've taken some college-level math, edX programs could be a better fit since they're usually more rigorous than other platforms. Edx courses are offered less frequently than Coursera, but the content is top-tier—some of my best online learning experiences were through edX courses. Unfortunately, edX doesn't have a sitewide subscription plan like Coursera Plus.
Codecademy
- The deal: Save 50% on Pro Gold annual subscription
- Dates active: November 21 to December 2, 2022
- Best courses
While primarily known for its highly-rated Python course, Codecademy has expanded its offerings to include many excellent data science courses. Codecademy is similar to Dataquest in that it's a text-based, interactive platform for learning in your browser. Both platforms have free trials, so you can evaluate both to see which you prefer.
Udacity
- The deal: 22% off sitewide or 40% off when you pay upfront
- Dates active: November 21–28, 2022
- Best courses
Udacity's Nanodegrees are more expensive than most other options on this list—the famous instructors, mentorship, projects, and career resources are all factors that contribute to Udacity's higher price. Joining one now with the current discount is most likely your cheapest entry point.
CodeWithMosh
- The deal: 55% off annual subscription
- Dates active: November 25-30, 2022
- Best courses
CodeWithMosh is a full-featured academy with hundreds of videos and exercises for each topic. In my SQL course rankings, their SQL course is one of the best for learning MySQL from a beginner to an advanced level. With their Cyber Monday deal, you'll get access to all courses on their platform, making it a good price-to-value ratio for anyone needing to learn Python, SQL, Docker, or Git.
Wrapping up
You can't go wrong with any course or platform listed above. Dataquest, Coursera, and Codecademy offer the best value for whole platform subscriptions, but Udemy and edX both have deep discounts on world-class individual courses. If there's a good course or platform I missed, let me know in the comments, and I'll add it to the list.
